Sharing Student Stories Across Pennsylvania
PA Story Project
Pennsylvania Story Project Overview:
The Act 30 of 2025 (P.L. 104, No. 30), known as the “What Is Your Pennsylvania Story” Act, calls upon the Pennsylvania Department of Education to support K-12 schools in celebrating students’ lived experiences and Pennsylvania’s role in shaping religious freedom, democracy, and civic identity.
In anticipation of America’s 250th anniversary, this project invites reflection on our shared history and the diverse stories that unite Pennsylvanians. Students are encouraged to celebrate the lived experiences of their families and communities to understand how their personal narratives contribute to the broader Pennsylvania and U.S. story. This program is designed to fulfill Pennsylvania’s legislative intent to use storytelling as a tool for civic understanding, empathy-building, and cultural exploration, while reinforcing the Commonwealth’s legacy as a birthplace of freedom and democracy.
